Looking Ahead

Spring Break!!!!! No School next week 3-23-15 to 2-27-15.

Please work on skills sheets I sent home with your students. These sheets have the skills marked that your child needs extra practice in. All students need to work on adding and subtracting while we are off. Below are links to websites to use. Your child will need their password that was sent home with them previously to access IXL Math.

When we return to school we will begin our 3rd DEA test on the computer. We will test in reading and Math.
April 2, 2015 is our egg hunt- See note sent home for what to bring.
April 3rd, 2015- Good Friday- No school

We will be working on reverse addition sentences when we return to school. We have worked on decomposing numbers some at the beginning of the year,  but know students will have to write an addition sentence to go along with it. For example if your child is given the number 5, they will have to draw counters to show a way to make it on a tens frame then correctly write a number sentence to go with it.

In reading we will continue to work on characters, their traits, and settings. We will also work on blending and segmenting words, as well as breaking apart syllables. To help you kiddo at home with the skills continue tapping out the sounds in words with their tappers (fingers). For syllables we clap and stomp them out.

In writing we will be giving our opinion on who our favorite characters and why. We will write on this through out the week and work on editing to create a final draft on Thursday morning.

Last Weeks Skills

We worked very hard this past week to get  to review skills to get ready for our third DEA test, as well as learn new skills. In reading we worked on characters and their traits. We also worked on blending and segmenting, syllables, and started working on blends at the beginning of words. In  math we finished up measurement including weight, length, and capacity. We also continued working on addition and subtraction. In writing we worked on writing opinion pieces. The students formed their opinion and then wrote about it and had to tell why about their favorite food, subject , after school activity, and pet.

Welcome!!

Hello all! I am excited to make my first of what I hope to be many posts. Each week I hope to give a review of the previous week as well as future skills that will be taught. I hope this will allow parents to see what is being taught as well as what has been taught so they can help their kiddos at home. I also plan to list activities and strategies for specific skills to help those that are struggling.
